Fighting Back Against Prostitution And Solicitation Charges

Prostitution is the act or practice of engaging in sex acts for hire. It is illegal to loiter for the purposes of prostitution, to solicit someone for the purpose of prostitution, and to engage in the act of prostitution. Both the person accused of being a prostitute and the person accused of being the client/customer can be prosecuted for this sex crime.

In street prostitution, the prostitute solicits customers while waiting at street corners or “walking the street”. In escort prostitution, the act takes place at the customer’s place of residence or more commonly at his or her hotel room or at the escort’s place of residence or in a hotel room rented for the occasion by the escort.

The police agencies sometimes get tips or learn through word on the street that prostitution is taking place in local business establishments such as strip clubs, nightclubs, massage parlors, etc. The law enforcement agencies will then set up “sting” operations to try and confirm the prostitution or solicitation act in these business establishments.
